On Monday, the tribunal learned phone records and data recovered from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during that period.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a trip in Portugal - is among the most covered investigations and continues to be unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

A separate recorded message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I realize I'm overweight and unattractive like Madeleine used to be, but I feel what I believe."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "What if there is a slight possibility that I am she? Then what? Is that not crucial for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a living here in Poland, I simply desire to know," the recording stated.

The tribunal was told that through emails, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a biological test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a similarity to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and stated to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with Leicestershire Police who collated the evidence, told the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally contacted family friends of the McCanns, as per the phone records.

On 9 October 2024, the father picked up a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "incorrect contact information."

During that incident Ms Wandelt left a recording on Mrs McCann's recording declaring "I will persist and I will prove my position."

The court heard Mrs Spragg established a relationship online with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in the county in that winter.

Call logs revealed Mrs Spragg had reached out through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to express the press had characterized Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be treated respectfully in the period leading up to the trip to Rothley, Leicestershire, in last December.

The court was told correspondence between the two individuals, in that autumn, discussing attempting to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from utensils at a dining venue.

"We need to assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg advised Ms Wandelt.

On the occasion of the appearance to their residence, Mrs Spragg sent a communication which stated: "We are sat near the McCanns' home with our headlights off similar to private investigators. I had hoped to achieve this with another person I hadn't anticipated I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."

The case ongoing.
