Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
