Expedition 33 Triumphs at the 2025 Gaming Honors
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards took place this past week, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. The standout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive secured the esteemed Top Game award, along with accolades for Superb Storytelling and Excellence in Visuals.
Enhancing the developer's success, the gifted performers also were honored with individual awards. Jennifer English was named Outstanding Lead Performance for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Best Supporting Performer for his work as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive itself received Studio of the Year. Overall, Clair Obscur and its creative team achieved 7 awards throughout the ceremony.
Other major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Outstanding Independent Game and PC Game of the Year. Notably, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the public, with only four awards—Critics' Pick, Breakthrough, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamer Selection—decided by critics.
