It has been confirmed that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.

A Significant Comeback for the Franchise

The duo are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Industry whispers indicate their cameos will take the form of a brief glimpse ahead, considering the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.

This signifies the sixth cinematic outing in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.

The Source Material

Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who was behind nearly all the previous films in the series.

The Plot and New Cast

The film's events are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.

The cast also includes several prominent actors in important characters:

• Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes is cast as a earlier incarnation of the calculating President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Separately, Jennifer Lawrence is receiving acclaim for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
