This young athlete maintains impressive social media audience
Kai Trump will have numerous high-profile supporters as she begins her first LPGA appearance later this week.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be connected to Donald Trump, received a sponsor's invitation to compete at Florida's Annika event in the Sunshine State.
The former president, an avid golfer, owns numerous international courses and regularly competes against his granddaughter.
"He's quite skilled. I shouldn't elaborate but we have competitive games," she stated.
Kai explained that Trump, who cannot attend, counseled her: "Simply avoid anxiety."
"He practically advised me to compete and have fun," she added.
"To me, he's just a normal grandpa. He won't be there for the tournament. He's busy with running the country, so he's rather occupied."
As an amateur, the golfer has competed in just three tournaments in 2024 and has ranking 461 in AJGA rankings.
However she's able to get advice from 15-time major champion, who is dating Kai's mother.
"He stands as the best player globally," Kai expressed.
"Furthermore, he's a superior human being. He told me to play, have fun, and go with whatever happens."
Kai will face multiple the biggest names in the sport at the Annika, such as world number two Nelly Korda, England's golfer Hull, Lexi Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
Tournament organizers mentioned that Kai's presence brings the sport to wider groups, especially among the next generation.
The young star has millions of followers and has started her own clothing and lifestyle company.
The competition starts at 5:30 PM GMT.
