Worrying Figures of Individuals Now Engage in Vaping, Reports Global Health Organization
Over 100 hundred million individuals, including at bare minimum 15 million minors, currently use e-cigarettes, fueling a recent trend of nicotine dependency, according to latest global health data.
Children are, usually, nine times more inclined than adults to vape, according to current global data.
E-cigarettes are driving a "fresh wave" of nicotine addiction, remarked a senior health expert. "They are advertised as damage limitation but, truthfully, are hooking youth on nicotine sooner and risk compromising years of improvement."
Teens Being 'Focused On'
"Countless of people are ceasing, or avoiding tobacco usage thanks to tobacco restriction efforts by countries throughout the planet," the official stated.
"As an answer to this substantial progress, the tobacco industry is pushing back with recent nicotine items, actively aiming at adolescents. Governments must act quicker and more vigorously in implementing proven tobacco-control policies," the official added.
The e-cigarette statistics are a projection since several countries - 109 in total, and numerous in African and South-East Asia - fail to collect information.
According to the analysis, as of this past February this year, at bare minimum 86 million e-cigarette users were mature individuals, primarily in developed countries.
And at minimum 15 million youth aged 13 and 15 currently engage in vaping, according to research from 123 countries.
While several states have tried to implement e-cigarette rules to tackle child vaping in recent years, by the conclusion of 2024, 62 countries even now had no measure in place, and 74 states had no minimum age at which e-cigarettes may be purchased, reports the medical authority.
At the same time, tobacco use has been declining - from an estimated 1.38 billion consumers in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.
Prevalence of tobacco use among women fell the greatest - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.
For males, the drop was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.
But 20% of adults worldwide still consumes tobacco.
Smoking is linked to many diseases, such as cancer.
Experts claim vaping is significantly less harmful than tobacco products, and can assist you quit smoking. It is not recommended for non-smokers.
Vaping devices do not burn tobacco and do not produce tar or carbon monoxide, a pair of the most harmful components in tobacco vapors. They have nicotine, which can be habit-forming.
